19 Nov The Amari Koh Samui Resort on Chaweng Beach
As the sun sets on Chaweng beach and the light softens over the ever darkening sea, a private dinner at the Amari Koh Samui, with your toes in the sand and candles lighting the path to your beautifully set table, is arguably the most romantic place to be.
This is only one of many reasons why the idyllically positioned Amari Koh Samui resort is an excellent accommodation option while visiting the island. Set on a calm stretch of sand along the popular Chaweng Beach, this exclusive tropical getaway with its contemporary Thai décor and sprawling palm speckled grounds offers 193 guest rooms in three wings, with numerous dining options, a spa and two swimming pools.
The rooms are set in three different wings on both sides of the main road, each wing with it’s own character and perspective. Offering the warmth of the classic Thai-inspired design of the Thai Village Wing, the lush tropical feel of the Garden Wing and the soothing sounds of the ocean waves of the Beach Wing. All are beautifully decorated and spacious with lovely en suite bathrooms, air-conditioning, flat-screen satellite TV, safety deposit boxes, minibars and a comfortable lounge area and balcony.
When it comes to culinary indulgence, you will be spoilt for choice at the Amari Koh Samui. The Amaya Food Gallery is their all-day dining concept and where chefs prepare Pan Asian meals in an open-concept kitchen. Amaya Cafe provides cosy couches and is perfect for a coffee and pastry or light meal, while closer to the beach, the Amaya Bar has a chill out zone that is perfect for evening cocktails overlooking the sea.
Across the road at the Prego Italian Restaurant, Chef Marco will indulge you with his homemade Italian creations, authentic menu, wood-fired oven, fresh pasta and incredible wine list, making it easy to see why this is the island’s favourite Italian restaurant.
More about the resort facilities
During your stay indulge in a rejuvenating Thai massage, body scrub, facial or wrap at the resort’s Breeze Spa. Recommended is one of the Mood Therapy Treatments, or better still try their Samui Piña Colada signature package that features a natural self-tanning extract to help stimulate melanin formation and induce an even shimmering glow to your skin. As this is a family friendly getaway, kids can also enjoy treatments using fresh and natural ingredients, while their parents are being spoilt at the Spa.
For something special book a Thai Cooking Class with resident Chef Coco. Your experience will start with a walk through the herbal garden where you will learn about the use of local plants in various Thai dishes before you are guided through the recipes and learn to cook three delicious dishes such as Pad Thai with Prawns, Coconut Milk Soup with Chicken and Spicy Seafood Salad. You then have a chance to enjoy the wonderful food you have cooked before being presented with a certificate and apron.
One of the surprise offerings at the Amari Koh Samui is the Voyager Lounge, which has been created specifically for those with early check-ins or late checkouts and includes showers, spacious lockers to leave your luggage and plenty of comfy chairs to relax in.
There’s also a dive centre, kayaks for your use, a gym and cheerful Kids’ Club with toys, games and babysitters to keep your little ones occupied through the day. The beach is lined with a couple rows of lounge chairs as well as cafe tables, and won’t want to move very far, except for a dip in the water.
Adding to the feel good, the resort’s Corporate Social Responsibility program ensures they maintain a good relationship with the environment, adhere to sustainable practices and give back to the local communities just making it all even better.
Things to do from the hotel
The hotel is perfectly located for feel good seaside living, yet for those wanting to step off the property and find restaurants, bars and shopping, these are only a few minutes walk away. Tours to the nearby Big Buddha and Wat Plai Laem Buddhist temple can be arranged on your behalf, as can a transfer to the popular Bophut Fisherman’s Village with it’s bustling market street, great restaurants and high-class shopping. The Secret Buddha Garden is about 45 minutes drive from the hotel and well worth a visit to see the elegant sculptures and to take in the views of the island from its elevated peak. A day trip to the Angthong National Marine Park for some island hopping is also highly recommended. Most convenient of all is that the Amari Koh Samui is only a 10 minutes drive from Samui International Airport and transfers are available on request.
